Hi, I'm Alicia Long, and along with my husband, John, we own and operate R & J Livestock. We're located in Zachary, Louisiana, which is about 30 miles north of Baton Rouge.
We got started in 2018 with a few Katahdin crosses and came to love the breed. We raise both purebred Katahdins as well as a few Dorper ewes for show every year.
We have made it our mission to source the best Katahdin genetics that we can find and continue to build up a herd that displays great parasite-resistance, mothering abilities and exceptional size and body conformation for replacement seed-stock animals, production flocks, and the show ring.

Meet "Rona", who happens to be the very first ewe that we started our herd with years ago. She was a bottle lamb given to us by a friend to get our herd going. She is a Dorper/Katahdin cross, but she is an exceptional mother and is arguably the most low-maintenance sheep that we have. She is the matriarch of our farm and is now used to produce some of our yearly market lambs.

We started our sheep show career out in Louisville this year at the North American International Livestock Exhibition (NAILE).
We plan to also show in Houston at the HLSR in March and at the Midwest Stud Ram sale in June in Sedalia, MO
